PINE BRANCH BATHROOM

In the pine branch bathroom, the owner was unable to find an appropriate wallpaper that really expressed her love of nature. So we put our heads together and decided to use paint to achieve the desired results. The branches are copied directly from real branches and the birds from paintings in the field guides. There's even an owl behind the door which looks over your shoulder as you face the bathroom mirror. The woodpecker was added at a later date.

PREHISTORIC BATHROOM

The woman who lives in this house wanted something a little unusual in her downstairs bathroom. She already had the fabrics and curtain rods picked out. We searched through lots of magazines and books before we became inspired to duplicate a prehistoric cave interior. The lower portion of the wall is rendered to resemble fossil marble and the upper part is blended and smudged to look aged by years and years of soot. Cave paintings of primitive creatures are then painted at random, and a geometric stenciled border ties the two parts together and completes the look.

BABY NURSERY

Soft clouds adorn the wall of this baby nursery. It's a treatment I've used now in several different places. It's relatively easy to carry out and clients really seem to like it.

AN OUTDOOR MURAL

This lovely garden was painted right on the side of the owner's garage as a surprize for her husband. I accomodated her by getting it done before he returned from an out-of-town trip. I blended the painted brick path right into the real path by mixing the colors to match. I also included some of the owner's choices of flowers from her real garden, so that now even in winter, she can enjoy looking at the colors she's so fond of.

LOG ROOM

Want a log cabin but don't want to remodel? Try having them "faux painted" right on the wall. Little boys love it!

JUNGLE ROOM

Indiana Jones was the inspiration for this room. The background is painted in soft shades of green to mimic a deep jungle. Vines and leaves are added to further capture your imagination. There's some "ancient ruins" with cavernous and "spooky" places to complete the look.

GARDEN WINDOW

This bathroom was in need of a view. So the owners and I contrived a wonderful trompe l'oeil stone faced window looking out onto a colorful garden. I borrowed their pot of ivy in order to add a little more depth to the foreground. This makes the illusion more convincing. There's even a little spider and ladybug on one of the leaves.
